The Life Muscles Team is well aware that school plays a fundamental role in the formation of conscience and in creating awareness in children and teenagers. For this reason, the project includes activities to involve teachers, with whom to build and share educational paths and support activities for learning about environmental issues, <\/b>in this case specific to the marine environment.

A specific educational program will be created aimed at involving male and female students in activities aimed at protecting the sea from pollution, trying to strengthen the link with their territory. A useful tool for addressing highly topical and important topics, such as biodiversity, marine plastic pollution, circular economy<\/strong>, and to stimulate citizen science actions.<\/p>\n

COMPETITION FOR CLASSES of Liguria and Puglia<\/strong><\/h3>\n

To make the boys\/girls protagonists of\u00a0communication and awareness actions<\/strong>, a competition is being promoted aimed at classes of\u00a0lower and upper secondary schools\u00a0<\/strong>Of\u00a0Liguria<\/strong>\u00a0And\u00a0Puglia\u00a0<\/strong>(regioni target del progetto).\u00a0.<\/p>\n

The competition involves the production of different works, based on the school order, to raise citizens' awareness against the abandonment of waste for\u00a0protection of the sea,<\/strong>\u00a0especially fromplastic pollution<\/strong>.
\nEach class will be able to send up to 5 works, created by students individually or in small groups.<\/p>\n

JOINING THE PROJECT AND PARTICIPATION IN THE COMPETITION ARE FREE<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In the end, schools and classes interested in collaborating will also be able to participate in field activities<\/b> through two important campaigns promoted by the project in the pilot areas of Liguria and Puglia:<\/p>\n

  • The tracking campaign Beach litter<\/b> organized every year from the month of April. It is an activity of citizen science<\/i> which consists in the collection of data on the waste present on the beach. Monitoring allows you to acquire information on the quantities, trends and sources of that share of marine litter<\/i> immediately visible to all of us, in this case with a focus on mussel farming socks. The protocol used is a simplification of that provided by the Guidelines of the MSFD technical group (Guidance on monitoring of Marine Litter in European seas, MSFD technical subgroup on ML).<\/li>\n
  • Countryside Clean Up the Sea<\/b>, on the occasion of World Oceans Day promoted by the United Nations (June 8) with the aim of actively involving the local population, raising awareness of the problem of plastic pollution and increasing social consensus towards environmental policies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
