The first panel for Circular Supply Chain Management will be held in Caorle (VE).

.

On 3 and 4 October 2025, the Civic Centre of Caorle (Venice) The XII National SIRAM Conference – Italian Society of Applied Research in Mollusc Farming, entitled “Shellfish farming from a One Health perspective”.

.

For LIFE MUSCLES they participated Daniel Heat, technical manager of ROM Plastica and Joseph Prioli, Director of Mare Società Cooperativa, facilitating a first (of 4) panel useful for providing indications on the creation of a circular supply chain in the mussel farming sector.

.

Numerous actions can foster the creation of virtuous supply chains in mussel farming. In addition to the mussel farmers' own actions, local authorities are key players because, thanks to their role in policy guidance, they can promote the principles of the circular economy through waste management companies that collect, treat, and dispose of municipal solid waste. They can also mobilize financial support for the transition to a circular economy at the local and regional levels. The stakeholders involved are:

.

  • mussel farmers, including those organised in consortia;
  • local/regional administrators;
  • the producers of the necessary raw materials (socks, equipment, fuel);
  • transporters and large-scale retail trade;
  • consumers;
  • waste disposers.

It is in the general interest that everyone is involved, each with their own role, and it is with the aim of informing and promoting new networks that Life MUSCLES has made its contribution within SIRAM.
