Students ofIIS of Torremaggiore (FG) supported by the circles of Legambiente Iride – San Nicandro Garganico and Torremaggiore, they arranged to meet this morning at Serracapriola free beach in Marina di Lesina for the usual Beach litter Monitoring by Life MUSCLES.
This action serves to verify whether thanks to the project there can be a decrease in the presence of beached mussel farming socks, but to find out you will have to continue to follow us here and on our social channels until the end of the project, in September 2025!
The monitoring is carried out following the standard protocol released by the European Marine Strategy Directive which allows the comparison of the data collected also in other European initiatives that evaluate the quantity and type of waste dumped on the coasts.

Since the beginning of the project, the Legambiente clubs in the pilot areas in Puglia and Liguria have supported this action, organizing it and involving the local communities. To achieve the objectives of Life MUSCLES, it is essential to disseminate the issues related to the protection of the marine and coastal ecosystem and those most closely linked to the project: circular economy, innovation in the mussel farming sector, importance of recycling and combating pollution caused by waste, especially plastic waste such as remains for mussel farming.
