SLOW FISH HAS OPENED ITS DOORS AND DID IT BY GIVING THE SAYING TO THE GUARDIANS OF THE SEA. SINCE THE OFFICIAL INAUGURATION, WHICH HAD AMONG ITS PROTAGONISTS PAOLO VARRELLA AND NADIA MAGGIONCALDA, OF THE COOPERATIVE OF SHELLFISH FARMERS.
Important occasion for our project partner Cooperativa Mussel Farmers Associati of La Spezia, who with Paolo Varrella was present this morning at the official inauguration of Slow Fish 2023 at the Old Port of Genoa.
"It was an honor for me to participate in the inauguration of Slow Fish 2023 thanks to Slow Food Italy, Slow Food La Spezia and the Spezzini Mussel Farmers Cooperative - he said Varrella on his Instagram profile – I had the opportunity to talk about our CO2 projects on LIFE MUSCLES and Smart Bay Santa Teresa and I was able to tell everyone how many problems the sea bream are creating for us, but despite this we are moving forward determined”.
Thanks to the involvement in these projects, mussel farmers become active sentinels and collaborate in numerous actions of research and innovation to counter the two main environmental emergencies which are the climate change and plastic pollution in the seas.
And the problem of plastic was also the protagonist in the morning of the question and answer between the president of Slow Food, Carlo Petrini and the minister of food sovereignty Francesco Lollobrigida: “Let's do away with single-use plastic – scans Petrini – which is the distinctive element of food production. (…) In history it was a fantastic invention, but it was used to produce solid artifacts. I don't want to consume it anymore in any way"
“Limiting or totally abolishing the use of plastic is not considered suitable today, especially if in the rest of the world choices are not made that are homogeneous or close to this one. We have also asked Europe to work on the use of plastic by making choices that do not change radically every time. Italy is now the leader in recycling, we were able to anticipate the objectives by several years, we believe that this is a path that has seen Europe invest", this is the minister's reply Lollobrigida.
